The Lost Tower economy is built on four currencies that interact in specific ways. This guide explains how each is earned, how they flow into each other, and how to optimize your earning across all four.
Lost Tower has four currencies: Gold (in-match), Shards (between matches), Essence (god ascension), Marks (parchment draws). They each have distinct earning paths and distinct purposes. Optimizing means matching your playstyle to the currencies you need most.
Quick answer
Four currencies, four purposes. Earn them through different actions. Spend them on different things.
The four currencies
- Gold: earned from killing enemies in a match. Spent on in-match upgrades. Resets each match.
- Shards: earned from completing waves and full matches. Spent on permanent tower levels. Persistent.
- Essence: earned from matches aligned with a specific god. Spent on that god's ascension. Persistent and god-specific.
- Marks: earned from milestones (first wave 30, first wave 50, etc.) and from daily missions. Spent on parchment draws. Rare and valuable.
How they flow
Each currency reinforces the others. Gold drives match power, which drives wave progression, which drives Shards and Essence. Shards drive base power, which makes future matches more lucrative for all currencies. Essence drives god ascension, which unlocks more efficient earning in all matches. Marks drive parchments, which permanently amplify everything.
The system is a circle. Investing in any layer amplifies the others.
Earning optimization
For each session, ask: which currency am I bottlenecked on?
- Bottlenecked on Shards? Play longer matches.
- Bottlenecked on Essence? Stay aligned with your main god.
- Bottlenecked on Marks? Hit milestones; complete daily missions.
Targeted earning beats general grinding.
Common mistakes
Spreading Essence across all four gods (slow progression in all, fast in none). Wasting Marks on early Common draws. Hoarding Shards forever instead of investing. Ignoring daily missions (Marks compound).
